About the Sanctuary
We are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit pig sanctuary dedicated to rescuing pigs in need and providing them with lifelong, compassionate care in a safe and enriching environment.
Pigs are incredibly intelligent, curious, and affectionate animals, yet they are often misunderstood.
Our mission is rescue, rehabilitate, and advocate for pigs, while educating the public on their intelligence, emotional depth, and needs as companion animals.
At its core, this sanctuary exists to change how people see and treat pigs- transforming lives and giving second chances one rescue at a time.
We currently care for a herd of 5 wonderful pigs and are actively seeking land that will allow us to expand our mission, grow our sanctuary, as well as welcome many more pigs in need.
Your Support Makes It Possible. 🐖
With all the lessons our pigs continue to teach us, we are excited to take this next step to build a thriving permanent home for these beautiful animals.
By donating, you are directly helping us secure the right land for our growing herd, while also providing food, veterinary care, enrichment, and housing for our current five residents. Every contribution brings us closer to creating a permanent, sustainable sanctuary where many more pigs can thrive for years to come.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts - both from me and my five best friends (the pigs) who are already benefiting from your kindness and generosity. Your support means the world to us.
Meet Alanna : Founder
Originally from Highland Falls, New York, Alanna moved to New Hampshire to earn her degree in Sustainable Agriculture and Food Systems. After graduation, she spent several years working hands-on across a variety of farms, gaining valuable real-world experience and deepening her understanding of animal care and sustainable agriculture. It was during this time that she discovered her true passion: pigs.
Her journey with pigs began at age 22 when she brought home Willa, a pot-bellied pig purchased from a breeder. Knowing very little about keeping pigs as companion animals, Alanna quickly found herself learning alongside Willa, who became her greatest teacher. Through that relationship, she developed a deep appreciation for pigs and connected with an incredible network of rescuers, advocates, and sanctuary operators. What started as caring for one pig grew into nearly a decade of hands-on experience in rescue, behavior, husbandry, and sanctuary operations.
Today, Alanna is fulfilling a long-held dream as the founder of Willa’s Way. Guided by the lessons Willa taught her, she is committed to creating a safe haven where pigs can thrive and where people can learn about their remarkable intelligence, unique personalities, and complex needs.
Her vision for Willa’s Way extends far beyond rescue. She envisions a vibrant community-centered sanctuary that combines compassionate animal care with sustainable farming practices. The sanctuary will grow food for its residents, support local food banks, offer educational tours for schools and visitors, host farm dinners and fundraising events, and demonstrate permaculture systems that benefit both animals and people.
For Alanna, pigs are at the heart of everything she does. Through Willa’s Way, she hopes to create a place where pigs are not only rescued and protected, but truly understood, valued, and celebrated.
